Manatee Palms and USF Partner for Trauma Informed Care InitiativeBRADENTON, Fla. – (July 16, 2010) – Manatee Palms Youth Services, a Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. (PSI) facility, recently partnered with the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute (FMHI) at the University of South Florida (USF) on an initiative in Trauma Informed Care for patients in residential treatment settings. In April, Manatee Palms therapists and mental health technicians attended a four-hour trauma informed training session by Norin Dollard, Ph.D. and Vicki Hummer, LCSW, of FMHI. As a follow up, an eight-week training on behavioral analysis, with an emphasis on trauma informed care, will be provided to the direct-line staff of mental health technicians at Manatee Palms. The training will provide the core staff with the necessary skills to approach every child in treatment with a trauma informed approach. “Every child who is in need of a residential treatment setting has experienced some loss, abuse or trauma,” said CEO Jeff Turiczek. “We see this collaboration as essential to providing the best quality of care to our patients and their families. We look forward to this continued partnership with the team at FMHI and USF.” About Manatee Palms Youth Services About Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. (PSI) ### |
